Why No One Will Ever Understand Your Pain and Struggle the Way You Do

When someone tells you they understand your pain or struggle they may mean it, but they never actually will. The reason is that you are unique and how a particular situation affects you will be different from the way it affects someone else. Although their intentions may be good, what you need to understand is that they’ll never be able to feel exactly how you do.

No One Will Ever Understand Your Pain

The leaves are supposed to look like shoes. As in…”no one is able to walk in your shoes”. Get it? Anyway…

YOUR PAIN IS YOURS ALONE

It might seem like a horrible thing to say, but it’s true. Only you feel 100% of all of the pain and struggle you are going through. That could be anything from depression, to a mid-life crisis, to the anger you feel of someone who has taken advantage of your trust, to dealing with a disease or illness.

Caveat: your mom or someone really close to you may be able to feel a lot of your pain. They may even gain their own pain from seeing you hurt.

You will react and be affected by things in your own way. Think about getting a needle shot for example. I’m sure you know some people who think it’s painless while others can’t even bear the sight of one. Then there are those who feel the pain, but see it as a temporary negative for a long-term positive.

Everything from the way you were raised to the physical conditions you live in work in will play a part in how you feel. Even if someone walked exactly in your shoes your entire life, something like the way people would treat you versus them based on physical characteristics is very likely. It truly is a double edged sword to know that you are unique in this world.

…BUT IT DOESN’T MEAN YOU HAVE TO BE ALONE

With all of this “alone” talk it may seem like you’re on your own, but that isn’t true. In fact, you should accept the help of others whenever possible. Don’t dismiss them just because they haven’t gone through a break up, have never raised a child alone, or don’t know what it’s like to feel ugly. If they are reaching a hand out to you then it is out of love and who doesn’t want that?

Don’t let your situation get in the way of letting people care for you!

THE BEST THING SOMEONE CAN DO FOR THOSE IN PAIN

Hopefully, this article helps you accept that no one will ever fully be able to empathize with you. If you are going through a pain or struggle then the only person who can really help you is yourself. That means finding a way to overcome it from within.

The best thing someone can do is let you know that they may not be able to fully appreciate what you are going through, but they are there for you to support you in whatever way they can.

I usually help women through my photography sessions, but I’m also able to help by listening and chatting with you.
