It’s so easy for life to get overwhelming. Eventually we’re all living on autopilot mode. So, when was the last time you felt good about yourself? When did you take a day to relax and enjoy life? A few ways to make you feel good about yourself are vacations, material things, helping others, and experiences.
Lots of people go on vacation. Whether it’s 2 or 3 weeks worth where you work, we try to get the most out of it, don’t we?
Some people enjoy lounging on the beach and listening to the waves crash softly on the shore. Others love to explore and learn about the rich history and cultures of other countries.
No matter what your interests are, there’s undoubtedly a vacation you can take that will help you feel good about yourself.
Not my favourite solution, but something that almost everyone can relate to.
Buying something new and shiny is always fun. When a company creates the perfect product you can take it home and read through all the marketing materials. Sometimes you even watch reviews on YouTube even after you’ve bought it because you’re just so enchanted.
I personally think material things are best when they’re long lasting and have intrinsic value. For example: a new MacBook Pro you’ll be using for 5 years, artwork for your home, or furniture that you absolutely love.
A very overlooked way of feeling good about yourself is to be selfishly unselfish.
Helping others is a surefire way of this. Being selfless is overrated. We all know that great feeling when someone looks at you and thanks you.
When I have clients and their loved ones write me hand-written letters, emails, or give me a call to thank me for what I’ve done it makes me feel great. Sometimes it even gets me teary eyed. I’m not going to lie and say that I do it just for them. In a lot of ways the work I do is a selfish act. I love to help others because it makes me feel good.
It’s a win-win for everyone and there’s nothing shameful about that!
You don’t need to get paid to help others though. In fact, a lot of people derive their happiness through volunteering. Go out there are make yourself feel good by making an impact on another human being’s life!
Warning: this is incredibly broad and vague.
Experiences make us feel good. Everything from intimacy to skydiving to running.
Figuring out the things in life that do this for you is part of the beautiful journey. Take chances and challenge yourself with experiences you may not initially consider. Be bold!
Join a photography club, a women’s coffee group, join a book club, race your car at the track, get a season’s pass to Wonderland, take up singing lessons, ride a horse, learn how to grow your own vegetables, or climb a mountain!
