Please excuse my language. Actually, please don’t. It’s the truth isn’t it? Parents are forced to buy crappy grad photos. What are the alternatives?! Their children just spent years working their butts off in school and when they see the results of those ubiquitous photos their children don’t even want them!

Alright, so misnomer…I’m not sating portraits with you sitting are bad…I just mean the traditional ones where you give a fake smile to the camera are. Like the ones of your parents or grandparents hung on their walls from back in the day. In an era where visual content is at the top of everyone’s list, you need to experience modern portrait photography at least once in your life. You’re different from everyone else and your personality should really shine through!
I think one of the biggest challenges faced by photographers like us who want to create spectacular images for regular women is the persona created in media today. It’s even hard to see all the production value of images posted on social media by big companies. Those photoshoots have a ton of people and equipment working behind the scenes. When you and other women see it you dream of having something like that, but at price you can afford. Unless you are incredibly affluent it’s probably not going to happen. My engineering education has actually proven to be an extraordinary asset in everything I do as a photographer; to be able to do more with less!
You won’t see many portrait photographs of women in the rain so I wanted to share some Spring photoshoot inspiration with you. I am a firm believer that you can create fascinating images. You just have to be willing to be photographed at the “worst” of times.
Comments closedIt’s actually really easy to see what makes a portrait photographer stand out; the thing that is so important, but often overlooked. Photography can be quite a difficult profession and business to master. One of the reasons is that getting past all the noise the the bazillion photographers out there can be incredibly frustrating. A lot of photographers in the Greater Toronto Area, including myself have realized that looking at our art more as a business is the only way we can continue doing and growing our skills. One issue, however, is that some portrait photographers either can’t master this specific skill or choose to forgo it. So what is it?!
You’ve probably seen quite a few indoor, relaxed lifestyle fashion portrait images on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, and Tumblr. Maybe you saw something similar on your favourite blog or from an Instagrammer you love to follow. If you never thought that you could be photographed the same way, think again!
Comments closedWe want to make it easy for women to be photographed so every month we’ll have a general theme for photoshoot sessions. Although we’ll be providing these services in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) women anywhere can follow along and DIY their own photoshoot!
Comments closedFor us to be the best women’s portrait photographer in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) we believe we need to listen to you and get to know you. Only then can we create images based on who you are and want to be, what you want to accomplish, how you want to be photographed, where you want it to take place, and why it means so much to you.
