Diversity Out of Simplicity: One Dress of Many Frames

Some of the women I meet wonder just what it’s like to be in front of the camera. They ask how artistic we could possibly get and how many different looks might we be able to capture? Lauren (the beautiful lady in all the photos) showed me a exquisite gold and green dress that she owned. I thought it was breathtaking the moment I saw it and with that we spent an afternoon capturing her in as many ways possible. If you want to see all the looks you can pull off with just one dress then get ready to be inspired. I’ve named this series One Dress of Many Frames.

ALL ABOUT HER

I’ve never seen a dress like this before. With twinkling gold sparkling throughout it’s mildly transparent clothe, it still did not overpower the weave of her personality. This is the most important part of a photo. While other photographers will give priority to capturing the outfit or even the lighting, I give my attention to the woman in the photos. I ask questions and get to know her because these images, while pretty, are all about her. This is Lauren…

AMONG THE GREEN

Here are a few shots of Lauren outdoors using a tree (or is it just a bush?) as a backdrop. The overcast skies lit both her and the greenery so softly and produced a evocative depth.

COMPLEMENTARY COLOURS

I’m Canadian so it’s spelled colours! If you need a GTA photographer just ask. ;)

FINDING IT INSIDE

Creating art is always fun. Even though I find shooting indoors to be a little constricting, when everyone is relaxed that’s when the best photographs can be taken, regardless of location. I truly believe that the experience I receive as a photographer is just as cathartic as it is for the woman I’m photographing. The experience of growing artistically over such a short period of time is really astounding.
