Women have become inspired through online content and confident-boosting groups and they’re ready to get their magazine quality portraits taken! With body-positive groups growing in popularity and the seemingly limitless photographic talent portrayed on our ever-growing screens, it’s only logical that there’s an appeal to be captured as our most amazing selves! No longer are we limited to thinking we have to take boring “graduation” looking photos. No! We can have photos that look like they belong in a magazine; something we can be proud to display and share!
CONFIDENCE BOOSTERS FOR PORTRAITS
At this very moment women are able to find inspiring images all over the internet; on their favourite social media like Instagram, Snapchat, or even Twitter. We aren’t limited to riffling through magazines and anxiously awaiting the next issue’s release. We can have it whenever and wherever we want. Moreover, images are of such high quality and so available that it seems like all photographers can easily create them.
So it’s not surprising that women, surrounded by all these beautiful shots of celebrities, socialites, bloggers, and even regular women off the street, wish they could have something similar. In their hearts they don’t think they could ever pull off such a feat, but nevertheless they yearn for that feeling of looking and feeling just like these other women. And that’s where the body-positive, self-love groups come into play. The acceptance of women in all their shapes, sizes, and symmetries is bringing about relevant change. Seeing strong women can give someone the tiny push they need to believe in themselves and that they are deserving of magazine quality images of themselves. A great example is of the beautiful lady pictured above (Jewelz) who started the #bigandblunt movement. Go check it out!
THE QUEEN OF MAGAZINE STYLE PORTRAITS
Once the mainstream media realized this trend in magazine-style portraits of women and wonders where it all began they’ll find this woman: Sue Bryce. Now let’s not be silly. Someone of her caliber does not become an overnight success. She’s put in decades worth of hard work and learning to get where she is. In my belief, will have earned the title of the modern portrait evangelist as she creates “Vanity Fair” style portraits for every type of woman. I highly recommend checking out her work which shows just how perfectly she makes women look (and feel) incredible!
MAGAZINE QUALITY NATURE PORTRAITS
As a photographer in the GTA, I’ve dedicated most of my efforts into helping regular women overcome the fear or inhibition of getting in front of a camera. To elevate what I offer I go a step further and pull together women and nature. My favourite thing to do is to create a story of someone and using nature as the backdrop.
What I love most about mixing my love for portrait and landscape/nature photography is that they truly enhance each other to create impact and timelessness. One thing that will never change is that the woman in the scene will always be the focus. My photography is still a portrait of a woman and therefore it has to be rooted in telling her story.
