Did you pick up that cliche New Year’s resolution of getting fit? Here’s some photoshoot inspiration of a fitness lifestyle photoshoot that will hopefully keep you motivated to keep going! Working out is tough. Whether you’ve already reached your goals or are still fighting the good fight, these images can give you an idea of how to show off that body you’ve been working your butt off for!
BACKLIT FITNESS LIFESTYLE PHOTOSHOOT
Going with a backlit theme is always a great way to show off woman’s (and even man’s) body shape. Other than for general health, I’m sure you’ve been working out to tone your body or even add muscle.
There’s definitely a craze out there that you can be seen on YouTube and Instagram. You’ve undoubtedly watched a few videos or liked a few images by now.
The extreme version of a backlit image is a silhouette, but that’s not we wanted in this case. We wanted to show some of the details and to pick up highlights on her abs, collarbone, neckline, etc. That creates more depth and really shows off more than just the outline of the body.
HOW TO TAKE A BACKLIT FITNESS SHOT
It’s a bit difficult to pull off these kinds of shots without knowing how to use your camera. It won’t be as simple as leaving it in automatic mode!
The reason is that the extreme between the bright background you’ll be using and your body will likely confuse your camera.
SETUP
Basically, you’re standing between your camera and a bright background. You can use something like a window with daylight coming through.
To get it just right, you’ll need to figure out just how much light you need behind you. There’s no other way for me to explain it but to just tell you to experiment. It might take a while and you may not even know how you got it to work, but I’m sure you’ll get there!
FOCUS
You will need at least a bit of light shining on you between you and your camera. This will allow your camera to focus properly on you. Otherwise, it’ll be like trying to focus on something in the dark.
DETAIL
A challenge you’ll come across is getting details to show. This just happens to be the nature with this method of lighting. A bit of light on yourself will help, however, the better your photography equipment, the more detail you’ll be able to capture.
Now that I’m writing all of this…you’ll probably need a friend to help you with this photoshoot! So go find one first!
