At one point or another you’ve dreamed about being a princess or a queen for a day (or more). This fantasy photoshoot inspiration can get you started on your own plans!
A QUEEN FOR A DAY IS A QUEEN FOR LIFE
I really love the “queen for a day” theme because it is so empowering. When you take on a persona of a strong female character you really transform yourself a little in the long run.
There’s no reason you shouldn’t feel confident about who you are. Sure, the clothes and situation are different, but inside you there lies that ability to sit atop the world.
PICK A PERSONA
Take on any persona you want. You can get inspired with examples from fairy tales, movies, books, etc. You needn’t be a literal “queen” though. The main point is that you are powerful and in control of your character.
For example you can be a(n):
- Forest guardian
- Mermaid
- Powerful sorceress
- Mythical goddess
- Evil Seductress
- Mystic
- Mother Nature
Or you can just be you in a more confident form! ;)
OWN YOUR THRONE
You can do your photoshoot outdoors or indoors. Given the beautiful weather you get in the summertime I highly recommend getting outside!
Either way, make sure you own your throne. You don’t have to have a literal throne like a chair made of gold and covered in precious stones. You just need to make the space look like home to you. Work the area like you “own it”.
If you’re out in the forest sit on a broken branch or if you’re by the water find some tall grass that you can turn into a comfortable abode.
GET DRESSED
Don’t forget that your clothes make a big difference. You can get your fashion on with period pieces or modern ones.
The best bet is to use something unique so don’t go for “trendy” fashion pieces. Unless of course they’re also timeless. For these kinds of fashion pieces you’ll probably want to check out some high end shops or even a place you can scrounge for a one-of-a-kind wardrobe.
DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT
In he case with Xinuo (pictured above) we used a necklace as a headpiece. It looks absolutely amazing! It works perfectly with the dress and the cold, reflective metal gives it a great vibe.
You can see the images of Xinuo up close under “Hardwood Dreaming” in our modern portrait inspiration gallery. If you have any examples to share or have any questions on how you can be a “queen for a day” too just leave a comment below!
