Themed Photoshoot Inspiration: Spring Rain Outdoor Portrait

You won’t see many portrait photographs of women in the rain so I wanted to share some Spring photoshoot inspiration with you. I am a firm believer that you can create fascinating images. You just have to be willing to be photographed at the “worst” of times.

Spring Rain Outdoor Photoshoot Inspiration GTA

Don’t be afraid to hop outside when it gets wet. Well…unless there’s a storm or lightning!

THINGS WILL LOOK DIFFERENT

Just look at the photo above. Materials are transformed when it rains! The chair suddenly has more character. You can almost hear the droplets slide off the cold metal surface!

The concrete has also been transformed into a reflective, glistening surface. This is a complete change from the typical matte, dull look of concrete.

Even just a difference in these two things adds depth to the feeling of the image!

THE BEST BENEFIT OF RAIN IN OUTDOOR PORTRAITS

Probably the biggest advantage of a rainy day is the clouds that cover up the sun. This means you can take photos even during midday when the sun would typically cause eyes to squint and highlights to blow out.

Just check out the softness created by the cloudy day in the images of Michelle below. These is apparent in the smooth gradient between the brightest and darkest points. There is no abruptness.

I hope this Spring photoshoot inspiration gives you the courage to go out when the weather doesn’t seem so perfect. Magic happens when you take photos when no one else will!
P.S. The photos were taken in Mississauga/Streetsville. It’s a beautiful place to visit during the summer!
