We’re always working hard to be the premiere photographic solution for women. However, being the photography expert for women means a lot of practice (practice…practice). So how do we ensure we have all the skills needed to create the images of your dreams?
A PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERT…PHOTOGRAPHER
Whether it’s portrait photography, fashion photography, or wedding photography, our goal is to create great photography.
There are a number of things we have to keep improving on so that we’re the best at what we do. Although we may not be the best in one particular area, we aim to be in the overall experience.
GREAT PHOTOGRAPHY
We have to make sure we have the skills to pull off whatever ideas you come up with or we come up with.
Even though we get some practice when we photograph clients, it isn’t a substitute for purposeful learning. This requires practicing on our own dime through experimentation with equipment and technique or finding a model to relearn the nuances of the human body.
This helps develop our creativity, artistry, and consistency. We’re able to create unique images that tell a story for our clients and that’s a beautiful thing!
Being a photography expert means getting it right at the very beginning! If a photographer is unsure of themselves and fidgeting then they aren’t taking great photos.
By practicing, we ensure our photography skills are up to snuff and ready when you are.
GREAT EDITING
As much as we love great editing, we’ve learned that the best editing is the least amount of editing. If you’ve ever tried painting something you’ll understand. The less brush strokes you make the cleaner the application. When you use a lot of brushwork to try and make it perfect you invariably make it look worse as he paint begins to set and become tacky.
With editing we practice how little we can do to make the images truly stand out. This goes back to getting it right at the beginning when we are taking the photos.
WORKING WITH REAL WOMEN
There are many times when we get to work with new models in the Greater Toronto Area. We don’t view models as superior to non-models (i.e. clients) in any way. Actually, the skill level between the two is quite varied. Some “regular” women are even more skilled then newer models in front of a camera.
However, working with novice models means we get more practice in posing. We’re also able to learn how to make all body types look their best.
Since we’ve never worked with these ladies we also get practice breaking the ice and making them feel comfortable in front of our camera. This is one of the hardest things to do and if you look at a photograph it’s easily seen in their faces. Ask any professional photographer with years of experience and they’ll confirm that you can see the anxiety.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
To be frank, we find studio photoshoots to be somewhat boring. We love indoor lifestyle photoshoots in our clients’ homes because there is a deep sense of connection, but white walls and bright lights should be left to fashion catalogue shoots.
What we especially love is getting outdoors and having an adventure with our clients. Fresh air is a wonderful thing. That’s why our eyes are always wide open to new and exciting areas to photograph in. Our eyes dart to great compositions and light whether we’re walking through a forest, along a stream, or even just driving along on a small road.
We’re not afraid to get a little dirty if we can find a place that will blow your mind!
If you’ve been looking for a photography expert then your search is over. You can get in contact with us to book a consultation or photoshoot or you can peruse our galleries to get inspired. We can’t wait to give you a personalized photoshoot experience! We’re based in the Greater Toronto Area, but we travel everywhere.
